Happy Birthday Didier Drogba: Tribute to the Chelsea legend
Some legends are born, some are made and some make themselves. Didier Yves Drogba Tébily or Didier Drogba, as football fans know him around the world, belongs to the latter category.
The Ivory Coast striker is best known for his time at Chelsea. After arriving at Stamford Bridge from Marseille in the summer of 2004 for a then club record £24 million, he went on to help Chelsea win their first league title in 50 years. Drogba thrived at Chelsea and went on to establish himself as one of the most feared strikers in the EPL and the world.
The two-time African Player of the year decided to leave Chelsea in 2012 but he could only leave his beloved club after bestowing an irreplaceable parting gift to every Chelsea fan. Drogba won the Champions League for Chelsea with what at the time was thought to be his last kick for the club.
Keeping with the great man’s quotes, destiny was not done with the Ivorian’s love affair with Chelsea yet. In 2014, after two seasons in China and Turkey, Drogba returned to his favourite pastures of the Stamford Bridge to continue his legacy.
