Nigeria defeats France 8-5 in a mixed doubles final in the world curling championship currently going on in Norway. Tijani and Susan Cole proudly flew the green and white colors of the West African nation far away in the Scandinavian country.
Both competitors went into wild celebrations as it was the first time an African nation had won a curling game at a world championship. Fans inside Sormarka Arena erupted in applause. Even some of the curlers started clapping too.
“All of our hard work has paid off. We did it,” Susana said. Tijani and his wife Susana live together in Denver where they started curling for the first time in 2016. Their family hail from Eastern part of the country in Onitsha, Anambra state and their love for the sport and love of country have been an integral part of their lives. They got the opportunity to compete on the world stage in to curl and took advantage of it.
